DUI Arrest, Hotel Theft: Des Plaines Police Blotter

DES PLAINES, IL — A DUI arrest and a reported theft at a hotel are among the latest incidents reported by the Des Plaines Police Department.

The following information comes from Des Plaines Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Theft

3000 S. Des Plaines River Road: A 63-year-old Glendale Heights man reported at 1 p.m. Sept. 9, that someone stole his iPhone 17 while he was inside Rivers Casino.

Police said the man placed the phone on a slot machine while he played and later realized it was gone. Surveillance video reportedly showed a man in black hooded sweatshirt and black pants taking the phone and leaving the property.

DUI

Aminesh Chatterjee, 24, of Mount Prospect, was arrested at 2:53 a.m. Sept. 19, in the 800 block of South Mount Prospect Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration over .08 and improper parking on a roadway.

Police said officers found a red Tesla Model Y near the intersection with its hazard lights activated. The vehicle allegedly moved forward several feet after officers activated emergency lights.

Police said Chatterjee appeared intoxicated, had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. He was taken into custody after field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample at the station.

Warrant Arrest

Caesar Ropero-Sanguino, 27, of Rolling Meadows, was arrested at 4:18 a.m. Sept. 13, in the 1400 block of Miner Street on a Lake County warrant.

Police said officers responded to a report of a suspicious person sleeping behind a business. Ropero-Sanguino was taken into custody after officers confirmed the warrant and was later transported to Cook County courthouse for a detention hearing.
