Enroll in Oakton piano and music literature courses
Learn piano this fall by enrolling in a variety of 16-week piano classes available at Oakton Community College.

Known as the “king of instruments,” the piano is a keyboard, a percussion instrument and a stringed instrument. And with modern electronic keyboards, it can also be practiced without adding a major piece of furniture to your home. Learn piano this fall by enrolling in a variety of 16-week piano classes available at Oakton Community College’s Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Courses include private lessons, group piano classes and piano ensemble for students of all proficiencies.
“A music education at Oakton not only enhances your music skills, but studies show music education helps cognitive functions and enhances your creativity,” says Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at the college.

She says students can also get in tune with the musical past by registering for Music Literature and History (MUS 236), a 16-week course that examines the development of music in the Western world from its origins to the present. The course focuses on musical styles, literature and concepts from different periods.
Music courses are offered for credit and noncredit.
