Be ready for a day on the farm! The Garfield Farm and Tavern is a 281 acre Farmstead and former Inn, listed in the National Register of Historic Sites. Our tour of the buildings and ground will cover Inn keeping and transportation. You will get to see farming techniques and production relating to Illinois in the 1840’s. Enjoy the barn, garden, animals and natural areas of the farm. Lunch will be served at Heritage Prairie Farm, a certified naturally grown farm and honey apiary, implementing sustainable and organic agriculture. After our farm tour, explore the farm store, specializing in organic, naturally grown food products whose motto is “as local as possible, as natural as possible”. Trip departs from and returns to the Lake Park Clubhouse.
