Members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 39-02 will teach a primer on boat safety geared for operators of small, manually powered boats.
The Paddlesports America class is designed for canoists and kayakers. Trained instructors from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will teach you about your vessel, including general information about paddlecraft, courtesy on the water, and regulations that must be followed. Also included are descriptions of basic boat handling, what equipment should be on board, and what causes boating mishaps and how to minimize them.

This four hour course will be offered Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 East Thacker Street in Des Plaines, Il. The class will begin at 8:30 am.
