This workshop will examine the nature of stress from a yogic and medical perspective. The physiology of stress and the impact on the body/mind will be explored, including a discussion on the fight/flight response, effects of panic and anxiety, and techniques/tools to decrease discomfort. Yoga’s unique combination of gentle, physical movements, breathing practices, relaxation, and meditation are designed to harmonize the workings of the nervous system and relax the physical body.
ACUPUNCTURE & STRESS
One way that stress affects the body is by causing a depletion or blockage of Qi (pronounced “chee”), especially in the kidneys and adrenals. We will discuss how acupuncture supports and restores the integrity of the various organs affected and depleted by the stress response, along with evaluating the quality and quantity of Qi.
