Explore Oakton’s health career programs at February info sessions
Students interested in pursuing a career in health care are invited to attend several free information sessions during February at Oakton.
Students interested in health career opportunities can interact with Oakton Community College advisors throughout the month of February to learn more about exciting opportunities available in these growing areas. Free information sessions are open to the public and showcase Oakton’s degree and certificate programs. Faculty will be available to discuss course requirements and industry trends.
According to the United States Department of Labor, health careers are among the fastest growing fields, with more than 2.1 million new jobs predicted to be added to these occupations by 2024.
“I see the genuine value of this face-to-face encounter with prospective students,” says Maribel Alimboyoguen, Oakton assistant dean for health careers. “A student should never have to feel like they are alone in navigating their future. Each information session is tailored to highlight the specific program’s offerings, labor market data and curriculum, but more importantly allows for students to engage with health career faculty and advisors.”

Oakton offers credentials in over a dozen unique health career programs. Upcoming information sessions in February include:
- Nursing: 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, Room 200, Margaret Burke Lee Science and Health Careers Center (Lee Center);
- Basic Nurse Assistant Training and Person-Centered Elder Care Support: 5 p.m. Monday Feb. 3, Room 200, Lee Center;
- Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomy: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center;
- Pharmacy Technician: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center;
- Health Information Technology and Medical Coding and Billing: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center:
- Cancer Registry Management: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center;
- Cannabis Dispensary and Patient Care Specialist: 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center;
- Physical Therapist Assistant: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, Room 210, Lee Center; and
- Medical Assistant: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, Room 2109.
