February Meeting of the Des Plaines Art Guild and Park Ridge Art League

Laura Lein-Svencner is the featured demo artist at the next DPAG and PRAL art meeting on Feb. 21st at 7pm at Prairie Lakes Comm Ctr. in DP.

The next general meeting of members from two local art organizations, the Des Plaines Art Guild and Park Ridge Art League, will meet on Tuesday, February 21st at 7:00 pm at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker Street, in Des Plaines. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.

Laura Lein-Svencner is the featured artist for the evening and will be demonstrating the process of creating collages. Although she has studied drawing, printmaking and sculpture, her love of paper pulls her back to the fine art of collage. Laura has been working in the medium of hand papermaking and collage for 22 years and has been teaching it for 18 years at various locations around the Midwest. Her techniques are also taught online. She is a member of many local and international collage groups and is the co-founder of the Midwest Collage Society and a signature member of the National Collage Society.

Her works, which have won many awards, have been published in several books by North Light Publishing and in articles in the following magazines: Somerset Studios; Cloth, Paper, Scissors; Artist’s Magazine and Professional Artist. A current collection of her work can be found in her self-published book entitled Tack Down Tuesday’s which can be viewed at Blurb.com.
