Flooding Closes Oakton Community College Campus
Flooding closes an Oakton Community College campus for a second consecutive day.

DES PLAINES, IL — Ongoing flooding on the Des Plaines river has forced Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus at 1600 E. Golf Rd. to close for all activities Tuesday. The Skokie campus remains open and continuing education high school classes will meet if the school is open, the school announced Monday.
Oakton is expected to reopen on Wednesday. The Des Plaines campus was also closed Monday, mainly due to flooding in the parking lots as the its buildings remained dry. Nearby Central and Golf roads were closed by local authorities.
Areas along the Des Plaines river remain under flood warning for the rest of the week as water draining from upriver swelled to major flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.
