Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, “How I Learned to Drive,” comes to the stage April 6-9 and 13-15 at Oakton Community College’s Studio One Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
“How I Learned to Drive” is a compassionate and gently humorous look at topics rarely discussed in any setting, let alone on stage--pedophilia, sexual predation, alcoholism and family dysfunction. The play is directed by Tara Mallen, an actor and producing artistic director at Rivendell Theater Ensemble.
Opening night is Thursday, April 6, at 8 p.m. with a special $5 preview. Regular performances are scheduled at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9. Additional shows will take place 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, April 13-14. The play concludes its run at Oakton with two performances at 2 and 8 p.m., Saturday, April 15.
