Accused Hit-And-Run Driver Charged: UPDATE
Police announced charges for a man they say killed one pedestrian and injured another with a van Tuesday morning.

DES PLAINES, IL — A 66-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that happened Tuesday in Des Plaines, police announced Wednesday.
Des Plaines Police said Henry Houston of Chicago was the driver of the white work van that struck two men crossing the Wolf Road around Jarvis Avenue on their way to work.

Both men were taken to Lutheran General Hospital. Roman Polniak, 52, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Joaquin Areilano, 56, was hospitalized overnight with non-life-threatening injuries, according to WLS.

DES PLAINES, IL — Police are seeking the driver of a white work van in connection with a hit-and-run collision with two pedestrians in Des Plaines Tuesday morning.
Around 6:15 a.m., two men exited a Pace bus on their way to work and were struck by the van as they crossed South Wolf Road heading west by near the intersection with Jarvis Avenue.
The van sped away northbound on Wolf, according to the Daily Herald.
One of the men told investigators the pair “looked both ways” before they crossed, according to the Sun-Times.
The men were taken to a hospital in Park Ridge, one was pronounced dead while the other had non-life threatening injuries.
Des Plaines Police are currently seeking information from any possible witnesses and nearby cameras.
