Huge rally held in Evanston for Supporting Impeachment

Nearly nine hundred people gathered in Evanston's Fountain Square to show support for the impeachment of the President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, December 17th, 2019, a group of nearly nine hundred people gathered in Evanston's Fountain Square to show support for the impeachment of the president Donald Trump. Several Rallies took place the evening before the House floor vote to pass articles of impeachment for Donald Trump in Chicagoland area and nationwide. Evanston rally was the part of the nationwide rallies "Nobody Is Above the Law" rallies on the day before the House of Representatives expected to vote on both impeachment articles.

Just about a week ago, two articles were approved by a House panel for impeachment against US President Donald Trump. The articles accuse the president of abuse of power linked to the Ukraine scandal and abused the power of the presidency and bribery and wire fraud charges as part of the abuse of power charge.

The temperature was above the freezing. Attendees from Members of civil Society, Socials Workers, Civil Rights Activist, Community members, Local lawyers, College and university students, and religious and liberals' leaders, Labor Union Representative, Local Journalists, Traders and Women social organization and all parts of society were encouraged the House of Representatives to vote for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The rally participants and Protester were holding banners. The crowd continuous chant of "Lock him up! Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, Trump has got to Go," Democracy is under attack and “No-one is above the law.

Rally was organized by Indivisible Evanston with support of Democratic Party of Evanston and others.

Speakers were on the rally are State Senator Laura Fine, Former State Senator Daniel Biss, Water Reclamation District Commissioner Cam Davis, MSNBC's Jill Wine-Banks, and Michael Nabors, president, Evanston/North Shore Branch NAACP, and Pastor at Second Baptist Evanston.

Speakers urged and encourage to the U.S. House that assure of the impeachment vote. Trump is totally ignoring our Constitution. He believes that He can do whatever he wants. He is thinking he is above the Constitution. Everyone should stand for our country. Right now, what is going on is not political. We are experiencing a critical existential moment of accountability in our country and constitution. Next election year will matter even more.

At the end, organizers thanked everyone for coming out in freezing weather after that protesters left the rally peacefully.
