Impressive Annual Meeting of Pakistani-Descent Physicians Society

The annual meeting of the Pakistan Physician Society (PPS) was held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the grand ballroom of Marriot Oak Brook, IL. The Pakistan Physicians Society (PPS) of Illinois is a part and local chapter of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA).
The master of ceremony was Dr. Amin Nadeem. The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an talented Student of local college Umar Nisar. He the son of Dr. Imran Nisar. The proceedings began with national anthems (American and Pakistan) Ms. Ania Shahid sang the national anthem of the USA who is the daughter of Dr. Shahid Ahsan. Pakistani anthem was played on piano by 10-year by Hamza Mehmood son of the Dr. Sajid Mehmood.
This sold-out event was a hit with more than 300 attendees and the attendance was so large and impressive. The official business meeting started with the presentation of reports by the treasurer and the secretary.
Welcome and opening remarks were conducted by Dr. Amin Nadeem. It was followed by Dr. Samina Hijab who introduced the 2018 PPS executive body to the attendees as a Chair of the Event.
The Pakistan Physician Society is the well-known organization of Pakistani Physicians in Illinois have no political affiliation or connection with any political party or agenda in Pakistan and USA. This organization that is totally non-profit and is working toward the promotion of social, cultural, educational and humanitarian goals. Led by the Board of Trustees, the office bearers of the Executive Council and our volunteer leadership.
Dr. Rahat Sheikh current president of PPS made his speech and highlighted the achievements of PPS for this year. He introduced keynote speaker Mr. Javaid Anwar who is a prominent Pakistani American Businessman out of Texas. The Mr. Javaid Anwar speech was well received, and he announced the donation in an amount of $25,000 in support of ongoing several projects of PPS.
Other speakers included President Elect for 2019 Ms. Amera Rahman, Mr. Mishal Khan, who is CEO of the local cybersecurity firm, Ms. Arshia Ali Khan, who is a senior development officer at Muslim Legal Fund of America, Dr. Fawad Zafar of Pakistan cornea project, Dr. Sohail Khan BOT Chair for PPS, Prominent Pakistani Physicians from Chicago area like Dr. Tariq Butt and Dr. Imtiaz Arain.
Lifetime achievement and humanitarian award were presented to several doctors and Physician. Who had proven in his field and achieved goal in humanity also participate in medical relief and other charitable activities in Pakistan.
A scrumptious dinner and an elaborate dessert were served to all. Musical Entertainment was performed famous Fuzon Band from Karachi, Pakistan. Fuzon is a Kind of Sufi rock band presents several kinds of hit songs.
