Juvenile from Des Plaines Arrested for Burglarizing Cars, Stealing Vehicle

The suspects, who are from Des Plaines and Evanston, broke into 16 vehicles in Buffalo Grove and also stole a car, police said

ST. CHARLES, IL - Two juveniles have been arrested for stealing one vehicle and breaking into 16 more in Buffalo Grove in recent weeks.

The juvenile offenders, who are from Des Plaines and Evanston, were arrested on May 1 and have been petitioned to juvenile court, according to a press release from the village of Buffalo Grove.

They were arrested by officers after being confronted inside one victim’s vehicle, which was parked at a home near Buffalo Grove Road and Deerfield Parkway, on May 1. They got into the car by using a garage door remote that was in an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway, police.

The juveniles admitted to police that they took part in 16 vehicle burglaries between April 23 and May 1 in Buffalo Grove and also stole one vehicle from the 900 block of Hobson Drive on April 23, according to the news release.

Several items were recovered from both juveniles and returned to their rightful owners, police said.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department is reminding residents to lock their doors of their vehicles in an effort to prevent car burglaries.
