Man Killed Friend, Slept Next To Body: Prosecutors
A Chicago man is accused of stabbing a childhood friend to death in his Des Plaines home.

DES PLAINES, IL — A Chicago man is charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a childhood friend to death in his own home, then sleeping next to the victim's body, authorities said. Craig Grzesiakowski, 35, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jeffrey Ziolo, also 35, who was found dead by another guest after a get-together in his Des Plaines home.
Grzesiakowski is being held on $2 million bond, according to Cook County records.
Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner said Grzesiakowski stabbed Ziolo to death with a screwdriver and stole his cell phone to block access to security video footage, according to the Daily Herald.

Prosecutors on Saturday said Ziolo had invited several friends — including Grzesiakowski — to his home in the 600 block of South Beau Drive on Wednesday night, warning other guests that Grzesiakowski was a "hothead" who carried a knife, according to the Chicago Tribune. One friend told police he saw Grzesiakowski and Ziolo arguing before he went to bed, Cook County Prosecutor Julian Crozier said. In the morning, another friend woke to find a horrific scene after Grzesiakowski stabbed Ziolo to death, then passed out next to the body with a bottle of bleach, Crozier said in court, according to the Tribune. Grzesiakowski reportedly told authorities he pushed Ziolo over a table and stabbed him after the two argued.
