Library Launches Coupon Club

First meeting on March 3.

This week’s column was submitted by Michelle Meyer-Edley of the .

“We’re living in a tough economy.”  We hear this phrase being thrown around a lot.  As individuals there’s not much we can do to change the current state of our country’s economy but we can take control of our own spending.  And here at the Des Plaines Public Library, we’re going to teach you how!

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve created the monthly Frugal Friends Coupon Club.   On the first Saturday of each month we will present a theme that will teach you fun ways to save money.  Learn to plant your own pesticide-free and tasty herbs, vegetables and fruits.  Create your own cleaning supplies using fewer chemicals and less money!  Get tips for running a successful yard sale and learn how to find good deals at other sales around town.  Discover how to give creative and quality gifts the frugal way!

And don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten the coupons!  We’ve started a collection to get things going and we invite all participants to bring coupons to swap.  Benefit from fellow Club members’ coupons and knowledge as well.  Share money saving ideas you’ve discovered and learn tips from others.

Join us Saturday, March 3rd for the first Club meeting from 11:00 a.m. – noon.  Registration is required.  For more information, contact Michelle Meyer-Edley (847-376-2841) or Lynne Rubio (847-376-2840).
