Local Mosque in Wheaton open Doors to all neighbors
Many Religious leaders came to build bridges and filled any cultural gaps within the community.
More than 500 Visitor from different Faith had filed through the Few-year-old mosque by mid-afternoon from local neighborhood, including DuPage County and Across Chicagoland, visited the Islamic Center of Wheaton. ICW has invited visitor from every year since last several years. Many friends and neighbors of different faiths inside to find out more about Islam’s teachings and understanding their Muslim neighbors. The program was hosted by Outreach/Interfaith Committee of Islamic Center of Wheaton on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. At the beginning all the guests were served traditional Mediterranean.
Many of the Visitors were first time visiting a mosque. They were treated to warm Islamic hospitality, including traditional foods and information on the tenets of the faith
The event that started at 11:00 am and concluded at 2:00 pm welcomed many members of the non-Muslim community and neighbors with their family to the mosque, who came to see, explore and even spend a nice and wonderful time. The event was marked with a line-up of attendees which included members of churches, members of Temples and the synagogue.

During open mosque many of female guests having great opportunity to try on a hijab (head scarf) they allowed to take home if they like to. There was a special booth from Volunteers in hallway they drew beautiful designs of henna on guests' hands.
Mediterranean cuisine was served to everyone also served snacks to delicious desserts with tea and coffee.

"Today I came first time in Mosque to learned that the Muslim Faith and religion is one of peace and forgiveness and Peoples are here So nice and Friendly," Joshua Said.
I am here today to Just to sit here talking, sharing our faith and community experiences and sharing food." Mary said.
Open Door helps to create a sense of belonging and break down barriers between people from different faiths and cultures.
“The Purpose of the day is to break down barriers and promote interfaith harmony by giving people in the community the chance to learn about Islam and Muslim. I am thanking to everyone who came today.” Shaikh Omer Haqqani VP and chair Outreach/Interfaith Committee.
“It was a pleasure to me welcome you in the Muslim community center. This is an opportunity for the Chicagoland community to engage in conversation about anything of topical interest, including shared faith issues, to unite and strengthen our humanity.” said Abraham Antar, President ICW.
“This is a great memorable experience for me. If you invite me again, I will come next time.” Gabriel said.
The program started with the recitation of holy Quran with sweet voice by Imam Ibrahim Darasawi. After recitation of holy Quran performed translation of verses of the Quran in English
Dr. Tammy Hussain, who converted to Islam a several years ago, spoke at the event and highlighted about Islam and women in Islam.
Right after the Dr. Hussain speech as completed, a panelist offered to answer any questions about Islam. The panel included Imam Ibrahim Darasawi, Dr. Sabeel Ahmed and Lady Scholar Naureen Ahmed. Guest and asked questions about the sharia law, the role of the Imam and wearing the hijab in the question-and-answer session.
