Man Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound After Fleeing Domestic Incident: Des Plaines PD
The 47-year-old Des Plaines man was found dead inside a vehicle in Park Ridge late Saturday night, according to police.
DES PLAINES, IL — A 47-year-old resident who had fled a domestic incident in Des Plaines before police arrived late Saturday night was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Park Ridge. The identity of the deceased had not been released as of Sunday afternoon with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office scheduled to conduct an autopsy.
According to Des Plaines police, officers responded to a reported domestic incident at around 11:15 p.m. Saturday, in the 600 block of Jill Court. The initial investigation revealed that a physical confrontation had occurred between two people.
One of the involved parties fled the scene before police arrived. The Des Plaines Fire Department provided medical attention to the other person on scene, who was then taken to the hospital for further care after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said approximately 35 minutes later at 11:50 p.m., officers from the Park Ridge Police Department responded to a separate report in its jurisdiction. This report concerned a suspicious vehicle located in the 800 block of Meacham Avenue of Park Ridge.
Officers approached the vehicle and found someone inside, who was later identified as the other person involved in the domestic incident in Des Plaines. Police said the person had sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Personnel from the Park Ridge Fire Department arrived at the scene and pronounced the man deceased.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted immediately following the discovery, according to police. Representatives from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office then responded to the scene in Park Ridge. No further information regarding this incident is being released at this time by the Des Plaines Police Department.
