Man Killed By Train In Apparent Suicide At Des Plaines Metra Station
A man who was fatally struck by a Metra train Thursday evening appeared to commit suicide, Des Plaines police said.

DES PLAINES, IL — A man who was fatally struck by a Metra train in downtown Des Plaines Thursday evening appeared to commit suicide, based on information released by police. The 59-year-old man was found dead shortly after 6 p.m. His name was not immediately released, pending the notification of his family.
Witnesses said he walked onto the tracks and faced the train before being struck, according to police. Police said the man was completely alone at the time of the collision. The Des Plaines Police and Metra Police Departments are continuing to investigate the incident.
