Oakton to host April 17 PRIDE College and Resource Fair
Meet representatives from LGBTQIA-friendly colleges and attend free workshops at Oakton's PRIDE College and Resource Fair April 17.

Current and prospective students, as well as community members, will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from LGBTQIA-friendly colleges when Oakton Community College hosts its first PRIDE College and Resource Fair 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, on Student Street at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Transfer Coordinator Brian Bacon says, “This is the first time that Oakton is hosting such an event, which I believe is the only one of its kind in the state.”
More than 10 colleges and universities are participating in the free event, which will also offer information about Oakton services and resources plus workshops for SafeZone training, navigating college records and LGBTQ resources and communities at four-year colleges and universities.

The following colleges and universities are scheduled to participate:
- Columbia College Chicago,
- Northeastern Illinois University,
- Northern Illinois University,
- Oakland University,
- Southern Illinois University,
- University of Nebraska at Omaha,
- University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire,
- University of Wisconsin-Green Bay,
- University of Wisconsin-Madison,
- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and
- University of Wisconsin-Parkside
The event is sponsored by Career and Transfer Center, Oakton Pride Club, Women’s and Gender Studies and the Student Government Association. The event is free and open to all.
