Oakton hosts Virtual First-Gen College Fair April 17

Learning never stops. Gain access to valuable college resources without leaving your home by attending Oakton Community College’s Virtual First-Gen College Fair 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Friday, April 17. This is an opportunity to hear from college representatives and have your questions answered.

Single offering 30-minute information sessions, followed by a Q&A, will be available from 11-11:30 a.m. These include:

• Transfer Basics. Find out what you need to consider when transferring in the midst of a pandemic. Learn how to get started with the college transfer process during these uncertain times by visiting https://oakton.whereby.com/transfer-basics.
• Honors. Explore how an Honors Program can help with your college and workplace success. Learn more by visiting https://oakton.whereby.com/honors.
• STEM and Elmhurst College. Attend this virtual information session to explore STEM opportunities at Elmhurst College, including robust STEM scholarships and programming. Find out more by visiting https://oakton.whereby.com/stem.

“Oakton is committed to preparing high school and college students to prepare for success, especially in these trying times,” Oakton Transfer Coordinator Brian Bacon says. “The virtual college fair will allow members of the community to engage with college representatives in a safe, friendly and efficient environment.”

In addition, recurring information sessions will occur every half hour starting at noon and end with Q&A time for students and parents at 2 p.m. Attend virtual college rooms and meet one-on-one with college representatives to discuss any pertinent questions you may have.
