Oakton joins global campaign to prevent violence against women
Oakton hosts three benefit performances of "The Vagina Monologues" at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 14-16.

Join Oakton Community College students and employees for three benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues” at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 14-16, in the Studio One Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
Sponsored by the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and the Performing Arts Department, the staged readings of Eve Ensler’s powerful masterpiece will raise funds for Northwest CASA and Apna Ghar to provide services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The performances are among approximately 6,000 events held annually across the globe throughout the month of February as part of the V-Day College Campaign to demand an end to violence against women and girls.
According to director Simi Khurana, “‘The Vagina Monologues’ is a groundbreaking work of political theater and a transformative experience for performers and audiences alike. I’m proud to be associated with this play as it has given a voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public and brought a deeper consciousness to the conversation around ending violence against women and girls.”
