Oakton playwriting festival deadline extended to April 21

The submission deadline for Oakton Community College’s “Play On Student Playwriting Festival” has been extended to Friday, April 21.

Now celebrating its ninth year, the festival gives budding authors a chance to shine. This unique competition is open to all community college students in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Each winning playwright will receive $200 and the opportunity to have their play performed by actors in front of a live audience.

Participants are invited to submit original one-act scripts of any genre. Selected entries will be produced and performed in Oakton’s Studio One Theater during the “Play On” festival, July 24-26.

Entries must not have been previously produced in any genre or style. Submit 10 pages or less in a 12-point font. One submission per student; email your Word document to skhurana@oakton.edu, and include your full name, phone number, mailing address, email address and the name of the college you attend.
