Oakton trustees approve organizational technology certificate
Oakton will soon offer a certificate geared for general office workers or technology staff who wish to expand credentials.

The Oakton Community College Board of Trustees approved the creation of a new 17-hour organizational technology certificate at its January business meeting.
The certificate is designed for students who are currently employed as general office workers or office management or technology staff in addition to those who are seeking employment and wish to expand their skills and knowledge. The curriculum includes courses in the college’s Computer Applications for Business program, as well as courses a student might need for their specific position or organization.
“Office workers and administrators need to have a variety of skills in order to effectively manage an office, and this certificate represents the speed at which IT needs to keep pace,” says Dean of Mathematics and Technologies Robert Sompolski. “This certificate allows students to expand their skills by choosing courses that will assist them in office administration or management, enabling them to earn a certificate that adds to their credentials.”
