Oakton Visiting Artist Series to feature noted game designer

Ben Nicholas, senior concept artist designer at Ubisoft Montreal, headlines the next Visiting Artist Series at Oakton March 6.

Learn more about 3D concepts and video game design by joining Ben Nicholas, senior concept artist designer at Ubisoft Montreal, from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Oakton Community College Student Center, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. Nichols will discuss how to turn creative skills into a successful career in the gaming industry, followed by a Q&A session, at the Visiting Artist Series event.

“We’re very proud to bring Ben to Oakton because he’s extremely passionate about art design and gaming,” Assistant Professor of Art Erick Rohn says. “People can expect a conversational interview with a professional, senior-level video game designer who is working on top-tier video games for a great studio. We will also look at Ben’s body of work and review his most recent concepts and the effort that goes into designing the worlds in which a video game takes place.”

Nicholas has worked on titles including Republique, Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2. He also has designed conceptual products for Adidas.
