Officer Battered, Driver Resists Arrest: Des Plaines Police Blotter

DES PLAINES, IL — An aggravated battery charge involving a police officer, a driver accused of resisting arrest and a vehicle damaged overnight are among the latest reports from the Des Plaines Police Department.

The following information comes from Des Plaines Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Criminal Damage To Vehicle

700 block of Sanborn Street: A 51-year-old Des Plaines man reported at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 8, that unknown offenders damaged the door handles of his Kia minivan while it was parked in his driveway.

Police said the man discovered the damage when he returned to the vehicle the following morning. Both the driver's-side and passenger-side door handles were damaged. Police said it did not appear entry had been made into the vehicle.

Registration Documents, Resisting Arrest

Rosio Linares, of Des Plaines, was arrested at 3:44 a.m. Sept. 8, in the 1400 block of East Oakton Street and charged with unlawful possession of title or registration documents, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle and no registration.

Police said an officer was patrolling near Oakton Street and Lee Street when a blue Pontiac G6 was seen traveling east without a front registration plate.

The officer pulled behind the vehicle and checked its registration information, which police said showed the plate did not belong on the Pontiac. The vehicle was stopped as it approached the 1400 block of East Oakton Street.

According to police, Linares was driving and had a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle.

Police said Linares acknowledged having glass pipes suspected of being used to ingest narcotics and a green leafy substance suspected of being cannabis in the center console.

During the investigation, police said Linares was told she was under arrest and needed to open the vehicle.

Linares allegedly refused officers' commands, locked herself inside and attempted to put the vehicle into drive. Police said an officer reached through an open window, unlocked the door and removed her from the vehicle after she continued to refuse commands.

Officers found three glass pipes containing suspected cannabis residue during a search of the vehicle, according to police.

Police said Linares was taken to the Des Plaines Police Department, processed and later released with a court date.

Aggravated Battery To Police Officer

Sydney Foley, 29, of Des Plaines, was arrested at 6:53 p.m. Sept. 8, in the 600 block of Westmere Road and charged with aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery.

Police said officers responded to a battery report and spoke with Foley.

During the investigation, police said Foley was taken into custody and, while being transported to the Des Plaines Police Department, battered an officer.

Police said the officer suffered injuries consistent with the incident.

Foley was subsequently charged with a felony count each of aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery. Police said she was taken to the Cook County courthouse for a detention hearing.

Battery, Warrant Arrest

Jose Quintanilla, of Mount Prospect, was arrested at 2:27 p.m. Sept. 8, in the 700 block of Holiday Lane.

Police listed three battery offenses in connection with the arrest, along with the issuance of a warrant.

The police report identifies Quintanilla as a Mount Prospect resident.
