Pakistan-US need to work together to resolve all the issues

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US) Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has said at the University of Chicago that Pakistan and the US the relations were very important for Pakistan and this realization was prevalent across all segments of Pakistani polity. He further said the people of Pakistan expect the relationship to be based on mutual respect and mutual trust. Pakistan and the United States have enjoyed an exceptional relationship for the last seven decades.

Pakistan’s Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry held a public talk at the lecture session titled “Diplomatic Encounters Series” at the University of Chicago on Saturday April 28th, 2018 at Assembly Hall. The event was co-sponsored by the International House Global Voices Series, Committee on Southern Asian Studies, and The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago. Ms. Denise M. Jorgens, PhD, Director of the International House of the University welcomed the Ambassador and Mr. James H. Nye, Bibliographer for Southern Asia, moderated the event.

Chaudhry said, “Both countries they achieved the common objectives in past and both need more work together to resolve the problems they are currently facing now.

The partnership between Islamabad and Washington got positive results and there is a need to continue talks to work out better relationship”.

At the conclusion, Ambassador said, though there are some misperceptions on both sides, but disengagement has never been a solution of issues in history. He added that historically, Pakistan and US collaboration has yielded benefits. He stressed the need for more and more dialogue between the two countries with a view to remove misgivings and restore the vitality of their relationship.

The Ambassador highlighted the achievements and sacrifices of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism during Question-and-answer (Q&A) sessions.

The University of Chicago Established in 1890, the University of Chicago Located in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood, Chicago (also known as U Chicago) is a private research university with 16,016 students. It's currently ranked 10th in the world according to the QS World University Rankings, making it the fifth highest-ranked university in the US. Ambassador Sahibzada Yaqoob Ali Khan also spoke at the University in the 1970s.
