Do you want to go the distance, showcase your skills, make new friends, and come out a winner, no matter what place you take? Then join us at the Hershey’s Track and Field Games on Sunday, May 4 at 1:00pm at Maine West High School Track. Participation in the competition is free. Boys and girls ages nine to fourteen compete in separate age divisions (9-10; 11-12, and 13-14 years old) in the 50 meter; 100 meter; 200 meter; 400 meter; and 4x100 relay races; the standing long jump; and a softball throw. Participants can enter a total of three events: either two track and one field event or two field and one track event.
All participants must register by submitting a Hershey’s entry and a Des Plaines Park District waiver. To register, visit www.DPParks.org and fill out the registration forms under the Programs and Events/Athletics tab. Online registration deadline is Friday, May 2 at 5:00pm.
Founded in 1975, Hershey’s Track and Field Games is the longest-running youth activity program of its kind in North America, engaging more than 4,000 communities every year. The goal of the games is to introduce children to physical fitness through basic events like running, jumping and throwing. The program also strives to encourage children to reach their potential and develop a sense of accomplishment.
