Passionate celebration of Pakistan Independence Day in Glendale Height
In honor of the nation's 76th Independence Day, commemorative events were held in Glendale Heights.
Every Pakistani citizen, whether they reside in Pakistan or overseas, values Pakistan's Independence Day greatly.
The flag-hoisting ceremony for Pakistan Independence Day took place in the Chicago suburbs and was the most notable celebration of the year. On Saturday, August 19, 2023, hundreds of Pakistani Americans congregated in Glendale Heights, Illinois, to commemorate Pakistan's 76th anniversary of independence. The gathering took place in Camera Park, 101 Fullerton Avenue, Glendale Heights, Illinois 60139. by Iqbal Khan and his group of organizers. The group was referred to as PAK-US Freedom Reliance Celebrates.
The historic occasion was attended by about 5,000 people, including members of the Pakistani, Asian, and American communities, local government officials, diplomats, and local and American journalists.
The Holy Quran was recited before Mr. Tariq Kareem, the Pakistani consul general, and local officials raised the green crescent and star and played the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States. The mayors of several nearby cities, including members of Congress, senators, and representatives. Numerous members of the DuPage County Board and municipal officials from the Chicago North suburbs were present, along with statements of congratulations from the county treasurer and attorney general of DuPage. Many people participated in the historical event, including Judge McCluskey, Judge Bob Berlin, Judge Jesse Reyes, Sheriff James Mendrick, Judge Christine Cody, John Monino, and others. Most dignitaries and community leaders were honored by the organizers.
General Tariq Karim, the consul general, declared: "Our Country Pakistan is making every effort to realize the Quaid's vision of a modern, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan." The president of PAK-US Freedom Reliance, Mr. Iqbal Khan, stated, "I have been active in DuPage County for more than 30 years to further promote US-Pakistan relationship and to take it to new heights."
The entire event featured traditional music, which was played for the community at large. The music program encouraged families to participate in the celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day, where local businesses displayed their wares and lined with booths boasting everything from vibrant clothing and scarves to food from the local restaurants.

Popular Pakistani vocalist Seema Kashif captivated the audience with patriotic anthems and other top hits. Local performers were also present. Along with their families, Glendale Heights residents and close neighbors, acquaintances, and members of the media attended the celebration.
