Passionate celebration of Pakistan Independence Day in Wheaton
The PAK-US Freedom Reliance in the Wheaton, DuPage County Fairground eagerly organized Pakistan's Independence Day Fair.
August is the month that Americans celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day. Pakistan's Independence Day Fair was enthusiastically planned by the PAK-US Freedom Reliance in the Wheaton, DuPage County Fairground.
Approximately 5,000 people attended the historic event, including members of the American, South Asian, and Pakistani communities as well as local government representatives, diplomats, and journalists from both nations.
Prior to the Pakistani consul general, Mr. Tariq Kareem, and the local officials joining the cake-cutting ritual, the Holy Quran was recited. The mayors of numerous surrounding cities, as well as senators, representatives, and members of Congress. The presence of numerous DuPage County Board members and Chicago North suburban municipal officials was acknowledged as were greetings from the county treasurer and attorney general of DuPage. Judge Linda Davenport, DuPage County Board member Saadia Gul Covert, a Pakistani American, Sheriff James Mendrick, Judge John Anderson, Milton Township Supervisor John Monino, and other notable individuals took part in the historic occasion. The organizers presented awards to the majority of dignitaries and community leaders.

According to Consul General Tariq Karim, "Our Country Pakistan is making every effort to realize the Quaid's vision of a modern, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan." In the words of Mr. Iqbal Khan, president of PAK-US Freedom Reliance, "I have been active in DuPage County for more than 33 years to further promote US-Pakistan relationship and to take it to new heights."
Traditional music was played for the general public during the entire event. Families were encouraged to join in the celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day through the music program. Local businesses exhibited their products and lined the streets with booths selling everything from colorful clothing and scarves to meals from nearby restaurants.
Several Pakistani-Americans and their families from the DuPage County, Chicago area, and other areas participated in this Azadi Mela. Renowned Pakistani vocalists Nadeem Abbas Rufi, Karachi's Amjed Rana, Aamir Shah, and a few local singers stole the show at the concert with their best performances.

The organizers of this event also set up booths selling traditional Pakistani cuisine, and the attendees' attention was attracted to booths selling clothing, jewelry, and public Food services.
Women, kids, elderly men, and women were all observed waving the Pakistani flag, swaying to songs about the homeland, and demonstrating their love for Pakistan while taking part in the Azadi Mela.
He said that they all remember their homeland Pakistan here in America and pray for its development because the heart is Pakistani.
On this occasion, the spirit of Azadi Mela and President of Pakistan American Friendship Association Iqbal Khan said that they have been decorating Azadi Mela to celebrate Pakistan's independence for the past several years.
He further said that the hall is full of participants, a house full show which is the guarantee of success of this festival. People not only enjoyed the performances of the singers but also shopped from the stalls and enjoyed Pakistani food.
Ausaf Zaidi said that for this success, I am deeply grateful to the entire team and volunteers of my team, and I am also thankful to all the sponsors of this Azadi Mela, without whose help such a big Mela could not have been organized.
Dressed in a green dress and waving the green crescent flag at the Azadi Mela, Consul General of Pakistan Tariq Karim said that freedom is a great blessing and asked the people of Palestine about its importance. Even living in America, we value the freedom of our dear country, and we are all celebrating this day together with great enthusiasm. People are enjoying the show, and the hall is packed with people.

Iram Khan and Nazar Naqvi were the Emcees of the program.

Famous singer Nadeem Abbas Rufi said that we want to say that we are definitely far away from Pakistan, but even here we are celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day with great enthusiasm.
Attendees at the Azadi Mela expressed gratitude to the entire Iqbal Khan and Ausaf Zaidi team and expressed the hope that they would continue to host events of this caliber in the future. The event was attended by people of DuPage County as well as intimate friends, acquaintances, and media representatives.
