Police: Man Enters Through Unlocked Window, Sexually Assaults Woman

Following the incident early Thursday, police are reminding residents to lock and secure their homes, in particular, any accessible windows.

Arlington Heights police are searching for a man who they said entered a home through an unlocked window early Thursday morning and sexually assaulted a woman.

The man entered a home in the 2400 block of South Embers Lane at about 2 a.m. Thursday, according to an Arlington Heights Police Department press release. He sexually assaulted the woman and then took an unknown amount of jewelry before leaving the home.

The woman, who did not know the man, was taken to Northwest Community Hospital where she was treated and released.

The man is described as 5-feet 6 inches tall with an average build. He has olive skin, was unshaven and has short, dark hair that is curly. The woman said he spoke with an unknown accent and was wearing dark khaki style pants and a dark polo-style shirt.
