Public Forum To Discuss Indoor Pool At Prairie Lakes
Renderings of a proposed indoor pool at the Prairie Lakes Community Center will be available during the Dec. 12 meeting.

DES PLAINES, IL - The Des Plaines Park District is hosting a Public Forum on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the theater at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker St. to discuss plans for the new Prairie Lakes Indoor Pool. The park district will have preliminary architectural renderings of the pool and building design, and the public is invited to view the drawings, ask questions, and provide input on the project., according to a news release from the Park District.
Following the meeting, the district will begin the design process and create additional renderings of the proposed options. The Park District says the goal is to begin construction in 2018 and have the pool ready to open in the fall of 2019.
“An indoor pool at Prairie Lakes was the most requested new facility in two Des Plaines Community Needs Assessments that were conducted to help determine the future of the park district,” Executive Director Don Miletic said. “We’ve planned for this, our finances are sound, and we’re pleased to be able to proceed with this important community project.”
