Rizzo Walk Off For Cancer Returns To Des Plaines School

The school's 14th annual Rizzo Walk Off for Cancer will benefit the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.

DES PLAINES, IL — Students and staff at North Elementary School will spend the day walking for a cause later this week.

The school's 14th annual Rizzo Walk Off for Cancer is set for Friday, Sept. 18, at North Elementary, 1789 Rand Road.

Students and staff will walk around the school throughout the day while collecting donations for the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.

The nonprofit was founded by former Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who battled cancer himself. The organization raises money for cancer research and provides support to children and families dealing with the disease.

North Elementary has held the fundraiser annually for 14 years.

The event will also include raffle prizes for students, including a Potbelly lunch with teachers, special gym time, an Enchanted Castle party package, an Urban Air party and a Lou Malnati's gift card.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.
