Save A Star Drug Awareness Foundation Hosts Open House June 21

Highland Park, IL – The Save A Star Drug Awareness Foundation is ready to launch its most recent venture “Lake County Connections” with the objective of building a post-treatment network for individuals and their families.

On Friday, June 21st 3pm-8pm and Saturday, June 22nd, 10am-1pm Lake County Connections will open its new facility. This is a chance for people to come to our facility and see what’s it’s all about, located at 210 Skokie Valley Rd., West Entrance, take elevator to 2nd floor, Highland Park, Il. 60035.

"We are excited and proud to announce the Lake County Connections facility which will provide a very relaxed environment with the intentions of connecting individuals who want to stay clean and sober, " said Gail Katz, one of the founders of the Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation. The Save A Star Drug Awareness Foundation programs will use community resources, social events and a strong network of peers to support individuals and their families, as well as each other.

The space features a 75-inch flat screen T.V. Lounge, a state-of-the-art computer room and library room. It will host guest speakers, food from local restaurants, special activities and social outings.

According to Katz, this is a safe place for recovering addicts to get support from other recovering addicts as well as from various government and community resource’s, hear expert speakers from the recovery world on emerging trends in addiction and recovery that will give them hope for their future, as well as provide social and recreational services.

“We understand that recovery is a life-long process and Lake County Connections will provide a place where individuals can connect with others in recovery and stay in recovery, a life-long partnership of support,” said Katz.

The Save A Star Drug Awareness Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public charity with a goal to provide the first post-treatment network in the north suburbs.

Save-A-Star Drug Awareness Foundation was founded in 2007 by David and Gail Katz and their daughter Melissa Katz-Gold, following the death of the Katz’s son, and Melissa’s brother Daniel, from an overdose of prescription drug medication. He was just 25 years old. The goal of the foundation is to create drug awareness.
