Shawn Newman was recognized with the Dedicated to Excellence Award at the Des Plaines Park Board meeting on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024.
Shawn Newman joined the district in June 2015 and currently serves as the Lead Front Desk Associate at Prairie Lakes Community Center, where she is an essential part of the front desk operations.
Known for her efficiency, problem-solving skills, and strong relationships with colleagues and patrons, Shawn consistently goes above and beyond in her duties. She is a valuable asset to the team and deserves recognition for her outstanding contributions. "We want to express our gratitude, Shawn, for your dedication. You deserve this recognition, and we truly value your efforts," stated Don Miletic, Executive Director.

The Dedicated to Excellence Award is presented to employees who have made a positive contribution to the Park District. Potential recipients are nominated by Park District staff members, and evaluated by the Employee Relations Committee and Administrators for creativity, responsibility, community relations, and customer service.
