Spectacular Pakistan Independence Day Festival in Bolingbrook

Association of Pakistani Americans Bolingbrook marks the 30th Anniversary of Pakistan Flag Hoisting Ceremony and Taste of Pakistan Festival.

On August 28th, 2021 history was repeated again in Bolingbrook, Illinois as the Pakistani American community came together, after a two year long wait for the Taste of Pakistan independence celebration at the Chicago area famous Performing Arts Center, Bolingbrook to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Celebration was cancelled in 2020 Due to the COVID-19 restrictions last year.

This year free COVID-19 testing was obligatory for all before they go to an event.

There was free music, free family activities, live entertainment and a spectacular firework show.

The attractive event started off with the customary recitation from the Holy Qur'an with translation. The APA Founder & President Talat Rashid greeted the audience. He stressed we create a strong Pakistani American Association, a platform for the advancement of the community and youth. Talat Rasheed, founder of the Association of Pakistani Americans in Bolingbrook began the ceremony 30 years ago.

Several Bolingbrook Village officials, including high profile Businessman around neighbor cities, State and local representative and Prominent community leaders, Dignitaries included Mayor of Bolingbrook, Representative for Illinois State Governor, Representative from many Illinois State officials, School board President, Village Trustee and many others were present at the event.

Around 6:30 pm. The flag of Pakistan was hosted by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, Tariq Karim along with Mayor Mary Basta, Talat Rasheed and several other leaders. The American & Pakistani National Anthem was sung on the occasion. More than 50 vendors and 10,000 attendees were present to eventuate.

The 300 ft longest Flag was brought in green and white in Dignity of Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day. the Flag was sponsor by Well Known Community leader Muhammad Ali.

Program emcee Mir Ali did a wonderful job with keeping the program going efficiently. The event starts with a rousing music concert featuring Sharique Roomi, Saima Kashif and Legendary versatile singer Alamgir Haq provided entertainment until show end.

Huge Claps arose the moment when Alamgir stepped on stage as exhilaration took over him. The audience lauded his popular songs of his as the occasion continued to pay him a tribute included high Energetic Women. Overall Singer Alamgir enthralled the crowd with patriotic and other hit songs

The Consul general of Pakistan in Chicago stayed till end and enjoy. He applauded the organizers and the community and stressed that the community must stay united and continue to be a vital part of the American society.
