Spectacular Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day Parade at Devon ave.

The Pakistan community Chicago under PUPC held the Pakistan Independence Day parade in Chicago with full zeal and fervor.

After being canceled last year due to the pandemic. The Pakistan community held the Pakistan Independence Day parade in Chicago with full zeal and fervor.

Irrespective, Hot Sunny, warm weather day, a large Pakistani Americans community from all over from Chicago and its suburbs gathered on Devon Avenue, Chicago, Illinois last Sunday, August 22nd, 2021 to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan.

Essentially Pakistan's official Independence Day was on Saturday, August 14, 2021 but this year Pakistani United Parade Committee decided in a Board meeting to postpone the celebration until Sunday, August 22nd, 2021 due to the respect of the Islamic Holy month of Muharram.

The most Pakistani store owner decorated stores on Devon avenue. Enthusiastic youths decorated their vehicles with flags.

Fervent youth continued Chanting Pakistan Zindabad during the parade. Pakistani community members and spectators were waving from floats and vehicles, many of them were standing on both sides of sidewalks and waving Pakistani flags.

The Parade Leads from the corner of Devon Avenue and Damen Avenue around 12:30 pm. The large group of prominent Pakistanis marchers toward the stage. Which was located at the corner of Devon Avenue and Claremont Avenue set for the viewing of the floats and short ceremony.

Pakistani Consul General Tariq Karim was the chief guest on the occasion, who walked in the parade along with community members and local elected officials. Munir Akhter A well-known Pakistani Businessman was the Grand Marshall.

Well Known Pakistani community member Mohammad Ali and its team hold a 300 ft long Pakistani flag to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day.

Peoples who were standing by the curb, received little small Pakistan Flags, several gifts including candies, face masks and hand sanitizers were provided to all those who witnessed and watched the parade.

The Pakistani American crowd was screaming "Pakistan Zindabad" and "Free Kashmir". Pakistani and American flags dominated the parade floats and cars. They also raised slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad" and" Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan" slogans. Attendees wave the Pakistan's national flag and Kashmir's flag during the ceremony. Numbers of community members and leaders chanted slogans in support of the Kashmiri people's struggle for freedom. Children and Youngsters wear clothes representing various regions of Pakistan. Spectators cheered on every single float as they Gradually drove Devon Avenue.

The event started off with the customary recitation from the Holy Qur'an with translation by Hafiz Ikhlas Ansari. The American national anthem first and then the Pakistan National Anthem were sung at the event. The host of the Stage program was Mr. Adnan Siddique.

Many Pakistan United Parade Committee, Greater Chicago leaders performed a short speech. The speeches were brief but impressive. Chairman Syed Azhar Shah, President Dr. Wasiullah Khan.

Syed Azhar Shah said, “It’s an honor to me today and I am so happy to commemorate Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day on Devon Avenue, marking the start of Pakistan's 75th year as an independent nation.”

State Representative Denyse Stoneback said, “I am so honored to take part in such a proud tradition of our inclusive community. I thank the Pakistani American Community for including me in the wonderful festivities of this very important day.”

The event ended with a collective prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan.
