Ten Oakton Community College faculty members receive tenure

The Board of Trustees of Oakton Community College granted tenure to 10 faculty members at its Feb. 16 public meeting in Des Plaines.

The following 10 faculty members were present at the meeting and stood to be recognized when receiving the honor: Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Humanities Lindsey Hewitt, Professor of Art Moritz Kellerman, Professor of Chemistry Zoran Miodragovic, Assistant Professor of Sociology Michelle Naffziger-Hirsch, Associate Professor of Physical Therapist Assistant MaryAnn Nedorost, Professor of Basic Nurse Assistant Training Jhosa Pagulayan, Assistant Professor of English Daniel Roth, Associate Professor of English Philip Sloan, Professor of Paralegal Studies Merilee Waters, and Professor of Biology Kristi Zenchak.

“Congratulations to our newly tenured faculty,” President Joianne L. Smith said. “To reach the student success goals we all want, we need to have a corps of committed, experienced faculty leading our academic programs to ensure quality for the next generation of students.”

Oakton employs approximately 800 full- and part-time faculty providing instruction at campuses in Skokie (7701 N. Lincoln Avenue) and Des Plaines (1600 E. Golf Road), in addition to online.

“Tenure is an affirmation of the hard work each of these individuals put into instruction and their incredible
commitment to student learning and student success,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas Hamel.
