Wednesday, July 9: The Park It! Patrol brings games, crafts, and fun activities to Willow Park, 1314 Willow Avenue, from 6:30–8:00pm. We are playing beach ball volleyball, croquet, frisbie golf, giant jenga, tug of war, and more! Free!
Thursday, July 10: Live at the Lake Summer Entertainment Series. The Des Plaines Community Concert Band presents an evening of music under the stars at the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion, 2200 Lee Street, from 7:00–8:00pm. Bring a blanket and a picnic supper, and enjoy classic and contemporary tunes, Broadway hits, scores from movies, classic marches and more! Free!

Friday, July 11: The Optimist Club of Des Plaines is showing Wreck-it Ralph, the 2012 Disney computer-animated fantasy-comedy about a video game villain who wants to be a hero. On the big screen under the stars at the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion, 2200 Lee Street. Popcorn, snacks, and pre-movie fun all start at 7:00pm. The movie begins at dusk, about 8:00pm. Free!
Saturday, July, 12: The 2014 Lake Park Junior Open for golfers ages 17 and younger. Golfers will be put into foursomes in two ages groups (under 11 and 11–17), and play 18 holes on the beautiful Lake Park short course. The three best scores from each age bracket win prizes and trophies. Golfers also compete in two contests on the course: longest putt and closest to the hole. Hot dog lunch is included. Check-in at 8:30am, shotgun start at 9:00am. Pre-registration by July 11 is required (at the Clubhouse, Leisure Center, or DPParks.org.) $20 per golfer.

Saturday, July 12: Mother and Son Outdoor Adventure at Cumberland Terrace, 426 S. Warrington Road. Grab your little man and spend a few hours together (11:00am–1:30pm) in our park. We will teach you how to pitch a tent and cheer you on as you go through some fun obstacle courses. You’ll practice woodworking, and team up to build your very own “outdoor lunch.” Pre-registration is required: $8 per person.
Saturday, July 12: Late Night in the Park. Everyone in grades 5–10 can join us at Mountain View Adventure Center, 510 E. Algonquin Road, from 7:00–11:00pm for an evening of fun that includes unlimited mini-golf and batting cages, use of the skate and BMX park, plus time with your friends! All for $10. No registration is required; pay at the gate. The concession stand is open all evening serving up delicious food, frosty drinks and ice cream treats.
