3/3: Spring Soccer Registration and Placement Night. Sweepers and Strikers ages 4 through 8th grade are invited to placement night in the Prairie Lakes Community Center gym. Players will be evaluated and placed on teams for the 2014 season. First practices are on March 19 and March 20 and games are schedules from April 12 through May 10.
3/9: The Des Plaines Park District Community Concert Band will present “A Mancini Spectacular” on March 9 in the Prairie Lakes Theater. The band will perform a selection from the American composer’s television and movies scores, as well as hits by pop legend Neil Diamond, great movie marches, and a salute to American bandleader, Spike Jones. Get your tickets at the door.

3/14: Fridays are always Fantastic at the Leisure Center. From 5:00-9:30pm kids can meet with friends, play in the gym, hang out in the game room, play games, make crafts, and have fun.
3/15: Family Bingo and Pizza Night. Join us at the Leisure Center for a fun family game night. We will play traditional bingo and some new variations including four corners, kite, picture frame, and full house. Come hungry. We are serving up a special pizza dinner, too. Bring the whole family!

3/15: It’s Saturday night out for Middle School kids, as they take over Prairie Lakes Community Center for sports and games in the gym, friendly tournaments, music and dancing, and time just to hang out!
3/17: Resident Registration begins for Spring classes. The program guide is online at www.DPParks.org and available in all of our facilities. Pick one up!
3/21: International Lifeguard Training. Sign up for the program that trains our award winning lifeguard staff. It’s a skill that will last a lifetime.
3/23: Maple Syrup Family Fun Day Trip. Join us on this family trip to Camp Edwards, in East Troy WI, for their annual Maple Syrup Family fun day. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast of egg & sausage, pancakes, and, of course, pure maple syrup. See authentic demonstrations of maple syrup production, a pioneer sugar camp, and an old-fashioned hayride.
3/31: Spring Break kicks off this week with school day off programs, trips, and specialty camps for kids. Complete details are online at www.DPParks.org and in the Spring Spectrum. Pick one up today in all of our facilities, at the Des Plaines Public Library, and the History Center.
