The Parks PlayBook: Spring Break Stay-cations

Spring is in the air and right about now your children are counting the days until Spring Break. What can working parents do to avoid the “Mom, I’m bored…” syndrome? Sign your children up for Kruisin’ Kids or Leisure Lizards. Both of these school day-off programs offer kids, K-8, a supervised “stay-cation” with friends. Parents get the assurance that their children will have a great, safe, fun experience.

Leisure Lizards meet at the Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street from 9:00am to 5:00pm. For $24 a day, trained staff organizes gym sports and games including floor hockey, soccer, basketball, and dodge ball; board games and crafts; karaoke contests; and play time in the Game Room. Kids rotate through activities during the day to keep their interests piqued.

Kruisin’ Kids travel each day to a variety of popular local venues for sports, games, food, and fun. Monday, 3/31: Jump Zone! and Waterworks Indoor Aquatic Center; Tuesday, 4/1: Enchanted Castle; Wednesday, 4/2: CiCi’s Pizzeria and Sky High Trampolines; Thursday, 4/3: Brunswick Zone and the Orbit Skate Center; Friday, 4/4: American Academy of Gymnastics and Chuck E. Cheese. Each trip includes transportation and lunch for only $35.

The Des Plaines Park District also offers before and after child sitting, from 7:00-9:00am and from 5:00-6:00pm.
