Tokyo Ghoul Produced 232 Million Yen Debut, Ranking 5th
Blockbuster live adaptation films and its earnings.

The live action film of Sui Ishida’s manga series known as Tokyo Ghoul was finally featured in 305 theaters across Japan on July 28, 2017. It also produced 232 million yen on 166,000 admissions ranking 5th and becoming the top PG12 rated film as of July 29 to 30. The Tokyo Ghoulis expected to complete its project with around 1 billion yen and aiming to earn more from the international market where the manga series has had a large fan base.
Meanwhile, the live adaptation film of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama has continued its success in Japan ranking as no. 4 in its 3rd weeks bringing its total gross to 2.3 billion yen. As a matter of fact, it earned 2 billion yet already for 14 days which was the fastest record for a Japanese live action film release for this year.
Also, Hiromasa Yonebayashi director of (The Secret World of Arrietty, When Marnie Was There) is not featuring the film Mary to Mahou no Hana/Mary and the Witch’s Flower has currently confirmed its earning to 1.9 billion yen in its 4 weeks. The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection has sold 100,000 tickets within 2 weeks.

However, there is also some box office disappointment in Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda. The Anthem of the Heart live action film dropped out to the top 10 in one week.
