Touhy Avenue Closed During Police Investigation In Des Plaines

DES PLAINES, IL — A stretch of Touhy Avenue was shut down Wednesday afternoon as Des Plaines police investigated an incident in the area.

Police said in a social media alert posted at 3:46 p.m. that Touhy Avenue was closed between Des Plaines River Road and Scott Street.

Drivers were being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Police said there is no threat to the public.

Officials did not immediately provide details about the nature of the incident or how long the roadway was expected to remain closed.
