Two Critically Injured Following Two Crashes Thursday Near Same Crosswalk

In total, three people were hurt in the crashes that occurred within hours of each other Thursday afternoon.

Three people were injured, two critically, in two separate accidents that occurred within hours of each other near the same Des Plaines crosswalk on Thursday, ABC 7 Chicago reports.

A 69-year-old woman who was walking in the crosswalk Thursday was hit by a vehicle and a couple hours later, two 13-year-old girls on bicycles were hit by another vehicle, according to the news report.

Both accidents happened in the crosswalk on Miner Street at Pearson Street, according to the Daily Herald.

The first accident at 1:44 p.m. happened when a vehicle driven by an 88-year-old man struck the 69-year-old woman on the westbound side of the street, the newspaper reports. The woman was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition.

Police said a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old woman caused the second crash at about 3:50 p.m., hitting the two teens, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

One of the girls was listed in critical condition while the other had minor injuries, the Daily Herald reports.

The woman driving in the second crash was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
