DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A public hearing will be held June 1 to discuss a proposal to convert an office building at 1020 31st St. into a 184-unit apartment complex.
Two buildings currently occupy the 5.8-acre site, which is zoned O-R for offices and research.
Petitioners are seeking approval for a planned use permit and zoning map amendment for the development. Plans include converting the six-story building's interior for multi-family living, as well as a fitness facility, co-working spaces and communal lounge areas. The outside will include dog parks a deck and sports courts.
To accommodate the design and create additional green space, petitioners are seeking to reduce the site's 750 parking spots to 612. Zoning requirements call for at least 368 parking spaces.
According to village documents, the development plans support the Guiding DG Comprehensive Plan's goals of prioritizing new housing and economic development opportunities.
