String Of Car Burglaries Reported In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Five cars that were parked on the same street were burglarized in one morning, according to the Downers Grove Police Department.

Police were called to the 4800 block of Northcott Avenue around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a car burglary. The victim told police someone broke into their 2022 Chevy Suburban and rifled through the interior. They said nothing appeared to have been stolen.

The responding officer canvassed the area and spoke with homeowners, learning that four more burglaries had taken place.

The residents reviewed surveillance footage that showed someone getting into their 2021 Kia Seltos around 4:10 a.m. Police say the center console was open, but no items appeared to be missing.

In the 4900 block of Northcott, police spoke with a homeowner said someone broke into their daughter's 2020 Ford Bronco just after 4:15 a.m. Police say someone removed a makeup bag from the center console. The bag was later found in the home's front yard.

Another resident in the same block told police someone broke into a 2020 Jeep Wrangler and left its center console open. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A resident in the 4800 block of Northcott told police someone broke into their son's 2020 Mercedes Benz C Class overnight. The car's center console was open, but nothing was reported stolen.
