DOWNERS GROVE, IL —Ongoing recovery efforts continue after two workers were trapped in a storm sewer in Downers Grove Monday. One worker had been rescued Monday afternoon and was in good condition, according to an update from village officials.
Water conditions caused the rescue efforts for the remaining worker to shift to recovery efforts.
As of Tuesday, firefighters and special rescue teams were focusing on the storm sewer "near Carpenter Street between Gilbert Avenue and Curtiss Street."
The workers had been performing a large diameter pipe rehabilitation project.
