DOWNERS GROVE, IL — On Tuesday the Downers Grove Village Council will have its first reading of a proposal to build a Dutch Bros. Coffee at the intersection of Ogden and Saratoga Avenues.
The proposal has met with resistance from neighboring resistance, who raised concerns about traffic and pedestrian safety. At its July 6 meeting, the Downers Grove Planning Commission voted 5-1 to recommend denial of the proposal.
The vote came after outcry from nearby residents, many of whom cited traffic concerns. A petition opposing the Dutch Bros. development has garnered more than 800 signatures.
Dutch Bros. is requesting a planned unit development, an alley vacation, a special use permit to allow a drive-thru and a zoning map amendment.
The village council meeting will be held Aug. 4 at Downers Grove Village Hall.
