DOWNERS GROVE, IL — On Tuesday, the Downers Grove Village Council will review a request for a special use permit for a Rivian dealership at 2100 Ogden Ave.
At its Aug. 24 meeting, the planning and zoning committee unanimously recommended approval of the proposal. Planning commissioners agreed that the proposed development aligns with the village's comprehensive plan and that the special use permit standards had been met.
The 4.6-acre site was formerly home to Bill Kay Corvette, which petitioners plan to demolish to build a 51,232 square foot building with a showroom, service center and offices.
The village council will also review a measure to authorize a sales tax rebate of 50 percent to Rivian over a period of 10 years. Per village documents, it's anticipated that Rivian will generate at least $150,000 in annual sales tax revenue after the rebate period.
