DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Work on building the 1,550 square foot Milk Shake Factory in Downers Grove is "progressing smoothly," according to Troy Riley, president of Oakwood Construction Services, who is handling project.
Riley said Oakwood is in the rough construction phase of the building, which will be located at 4917 Main St. in the village's Domain on Main development.
The location will be the first Illinois store for MilkShake Factory. The chain has more than 50 locations throughout the United States.
The menu at Milkshake Factory features classic, signature, gourmet and seasonal milkshakes. The signature shakes include raspberries and cream and cookie dough fudge milkshakes. Nondairy shakes are also available.
Visitors can also order ice cream cups, sundaes and root beer floats or take home treats from the onsite chocolate bar.
Oakwood Construction Services is the same team that built Lo Key Restaurant in Elmhurst and Swedish Girl Bakery, along with its commercial kitchen, in Willowbrook.
In Downers Grove, Oakwood replaced the exterior windows at the Moose Lodge and handled capital improvements at Orange & Brew, Riley said.
"Downers Grove has a great sense of community, and it's exciting to see continued investment in our downtown. As a local business owner and someone raising a family here, it's especially rewarding to help bring a project like MilkShake Factory to our hometown," Riley told Patch.
He added, "Oakwood Construction Services is proud to play a part in creating a new destination for residents and visitors to enjoy, and we're looking forward to seeing it come to life."
