'Armed, Dangerous' Men Wanted in Elgin Murder: Police

ELGIN, IL — Authorities have issued arrest warrants for two men accused of fatally shooting a 24-year-old Elgin man on Tuesday morning. Isaiah Y. Butler, 23, and Xavier L. Butler, 25, are wanted for the murder of Joshua Bey, who police said was shot after a verbal altercation in a parking lot in the 1200 block Fleetwood Drive turned violent.

Bey was taken to Amita St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary findings from an autopsy conducted Wednesday show Bey died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.

The arrest warrants were issued Wednesday for Isaiah Butler and Xavier Butler who "should be considered armed and dangerous," police said. Both men are described as being 5-feet, 11-inches tall. Xavier is around 147 pounds while Isaiah is about 193 pounds. Isaiah has a last known address in the Elgin or Schaumburg area while Xavier's last known address was in the South Elgin area.

"Information about their whereabouts is being sought," according to Elgin police. "Do not approach them if seen. Please contact law enforcement immediately."

Elgin Police Chief Ana Lalley said information provided by the public helped police identify Isaiah Butler and Xavier Butler as the suspects in the murder.

“We want to thank our community members for coming forward with information that lead to the identification of Isaiah Butler and Xavier Butler,” Lalley said. “We continue to seek help from the public so we may bring closure to the family of the victim.”

An investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call 847-289-2600 or text a tip to 847411 and include ELGINPD at the beginning of the text along with the message and/or tip information. Crime tips can also be made online.
